On October 22nd, Puslinch Township Bahá’ís celebrated the 200th anniversary of the birth of Bahá’u’lláh, the Prophet Founder of the Bahá’í Faith.
Bahá’u’lláh’s teachings are for a new era of humankind. He wrote, “The earth is but one country and mankind its citizens”. Thanks to instant global communication, we see the power of this oneness springing up all around the world.
Astronauts from different countries working together and looking back from space do not see the lines dividing the countries; they see our universal home.
Many nations are working and coming together in mutual accord, support and respect. One hundred and ninety-five nations have agreed on climate action.
The outpouring of compassion and love in response to acute human suffering is a sign of our growing global awareness. Syrian refugee crisis, Haitian earthquake, and Nepalese earthquakes are notable recent large examples. There are numerous others.
Mankind is reaching the age of adulthood where we are learning to solve our problems with mature consultation instead of violence.
We honour our differences and celebrate our unique cultures. Men and women are becoming equal partners in all areas of society. Many are working towards ensuring universal education, so all children will have the opportunity to reach to their full potential and serve mankind.
We are living in a special age and it is in this spirit that Bahá’ís around the world are celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Bahá’u’lláh.
